A long block is an engine minus outer items such as valve covers, flywheel, oil pan, timing cover, intake and exhaust manifolds and harmonic balancer.
Generally, a short block is any long block engine minus components like cylinder head(s), oil pump, gaskets, lifters, sometimes timing components and camshaft.

Roadmaster sells remanufactured short blocks and remanufactured long blocks.  We can supply you with what you need in a remanufactured engine, whether it's a short block or whether it's a long block.  Our prices are fair and our service is superb.
An important thought worth considering, short blocks are falling into disfavor because by the time you buy the short block and the mandatory lifters, gaskets, oil pump and such, you end up spending more money than you would have spent buying a long block in the first place.
